A Style Set is a group of Styles (which are saved Condition templates) stored in one package. Style Sets make it easy to build multiple, related Conditions with just a few clicks. For example, if you are a drywall contractor, you could save all your Interior Wall Condition Styles to a single Set and with 2 clicks, drop them all into a new Bid.

There are two ways to create Style Sets: from the Condition window and from the Master Style Library and Sets dialog box. We cover creating them from the Conditions window below, see Related Articles for managing Master Style Sets and the Style Library.

Creating a Style Set from the Conditions Window

To save some existing Conditions in a bid as a Style Set,

  • In the Condition Window, highlight one or more Conditions
  • Right-click and select "Save as New Style Set"

On-Screen Takeoff Conditions Window context menu with Save as New Style Set highlighted

You are prompted to confirm.

On-Screen Takeoff prompts you to confirm you want to save to the Master Styles and Sets Library

  • Click Yes - the Style Set Detail dialog box opens

In the Style Set properties dialog box, name your set and choose and optionally an owner

  • Type a Name for the Style Set
  • Optional, select an Owner
  • Click OK to save the Style Set

Notes

Notice - the selected Conditions do not need to be saved as Styles previously, On-Screen Takeoff automatically saves the Conditions as Styles, then creates the Style Set.

However, if a Style already exists in the database (has exactly the same name...), a prompt asks you to confirm whether or not to overwrite the existing Style...

On-Screen Takeoff prompts you to overwrite if a Style or Style Set exists with the same name

  • Click Yes and the existing Style is updated with the new information from the Condition
  • Click No to cancel the process,
    • Then, click Cancel in the Style Set Detail dialog box
    • Open the Condition Properties, rename the Condition (repeat for all Conditions that already exist as a Style)
    • Start the process of creating the new Style Set over

You can create, modify, and delete Style Sets from the Masters Menu also, see Related Articles for more information.

The Style Sets list shows you each Set stored in the database, its "Owner" (if specified), and the number of Styles contained within the Set.

Styles are grouped by Condition Type which is why it is so important to assign a Type to each Condition/Style - it makes organizing your Styles much easier!
