PlanSwift supports one Scale per Page, however, it can accommodate Plans with different horizontal vs. vertical scales. PlanSwift can also calculate the Scale of a Page using a known length line on the Plan.
Calculating the Horizontal Scale
To set different horizontal and vertical scales,
- Click the Scale button to open the Scale pop-up
- Locate a known linear to define the horizontal scale (1)
- Enter its dimensions in the Scale (Standard) pop up
- Click Ok
- Now, draw a reference line that matches the dimensions you entered
- Double-click to finish
You’ll see a little icon next to the Page in the Pages, Bookmarks list that indicate the Page has been scaled horizontally. You’ll also see the calculated scale in the bottom-left corner of PlanSwift.
Next, we’ll calculate the Vertical scale.
Calculating the (different) Vertical Scale
If your Page has different horizontal vs. vertical scales, repeat the steps above but for the vertical scale.
- Click the Scale button in the ribbon bar to open the Scale pop up
- Enter in the dimensions from the known vertical linear from the Plan
- Click Ok
- Draw the reference line that matches this dimension
Now you see an icon with both a vertical and horizontal arrow, indicating that the Page has been scaled in both axes.
We also see the calculated Scale(s) in the bottom-left corner of the application.
See for details on setting and verifying scale.
If there are regions of your Plan that are drawn at different Scales, follow the process in the next article to accommodate.
