Copying Condition Item Details allows an estimator to select all or some of the line items in the Item Details Grid, copy and paste them into a new Condition. For example, after building out a Condition named "Wall Type 1" that includes all the line Items needed (which may have been modified to suit the particular Condition), an estimator needs to build out "Wall Type 2" that is the same, or nearly the same as "Wall Type 1". Instead of manually building the Condition (by adding line Items and then customizing to suit the Condition), copying and pasting from a completed Condition, then making minor adjustments, can save you a lot of time. The Conditions do not need to be in the same Bid or Database even!

To copy the Items Detail from one Condition to another,

  • Open the Condition Detail
  • Click the Copy Details button Copy Items button looks like two sheets of paper, one on top of the other below the Condition Item Grid to copy all line Items (rows), or...
  • Use the CTRL and Shift keys and select individual line items, then click the Copy Details button Copy Items button looks like two sheets of paper, one on top of the other
  • Next, open up the new Condition and Paste the Items into the Condition Detail using the Paste Details button Paste Items button looks like a sheet of paper on top of a clipboard below the Condition Item Grid (not the Paste button on the main toolbar)

After pasting the Items into a new Condition, make whatever adjustments you find necessary, such as layers, production, cost, etc.

REMINDERS

When copying Condition Item Details from one Bid to another, the Condition Unit Costs and Totals may be different. That's because only the Condition Item Details (the Rows) are copied over, the Markups and Indirect Expenses are not copied from the original Bid. Markups and Indirect Expenses must be setup individually in the new Bid (this is by design to avoid changing the receiving Bid's Markups/Indirect Expenses setup).

When copying Condition Item Details from one database to another, any information (Item Types, Payroll Classes, etc.), not already in the Master Tables of the destination database, is automatically added. If the option to "Create Master Items during Bid copying" is selected (Tools > Options), Quick Bid adds each Item to the Master Items list also, if it doesn't already exist.
