What kind of information can I get from Ask Documents?
Ask Documents can help you uncover details from many areas of your project, including:
- Overall and trade-specific scope of work
- Materials, finishes, and product specifications
- Project milestones and schedule information
Simply type your question and Ask Documents will search the project documents to find the information you need.
Why can’t I access Ask Documents on certain projects?
Ask Documents is only available on projects that are bidding within the next 30 days and have documents that have been successfully processed and indexed. If the feature doesn’t appear, it may be because the documents haven’t finished indexing or there are no documents uploaded for that project.
The answer says the information isn’t in the documents, but I know it is. Why does this happen?
While Ask Documents is a powerful tool, it may occasionally miss information that is actually present. This can happen when details are formatted in unusual ways, embedded in tables, or tucked into notes. We are continuously improving our accuracy. If this occurs, try rephrasing your question or asking something more specific.
Can I ask follow-up questions to get more specific details?
Yes! Start with a broad question and then ask clarifying follow-ups to narrow down your results. For example, you might ask about the overall scope of work and then follow up with, “What is the scope of work for the electrical portion?” This helps pinpoint the exact information you’re looking for.
Will Ask Documents provide links to the source document?
Ask Documents currently identifies which documents the information comes from. Direct links to specific source pages are planned for future updates to make workflows even faster and more efficient.
Why is information about project deadlines or bid dates sometimes incorrect?
For critical deadlines, always confirm the information on the project’s details page.
Is there a place where I can contribute feedback?
Yes! Above the keyword search bar, you’ll find thumbs up and thumbs down icons to let us know whether an answer was helpful.

Your feedback plays an important role in improving Ask Documents over time
I asked for a list of all manufacturers, and some were missing. Why?
Ask Documents aims to provide a complete list based on the text it can find. Sometimes manufacturers may be missed—for example, if names are abbreviated (“WATTS” instead of “Watts Water”) or embedded in complex lists. If you suspect one is missing, try asking directly about that specific manufacturer to see if it appears elsewhere in the documents.
