Abstract
This article explains changes to your On-Screen Takeoff license and maintenance and how you will sign into the application/activate your license going forward.
What's Changing
Beginning in June 2026, existing perpetual license holders will transition to named-login authentication. This change affects how access is managed; it does not change your existing perpetual license or require you to repurchase software you have already purchased. The transition is expected to take place with On-Screen Takeoff version 4.0.0.805.
Why This Change Is Happening
Old legacy authentication using keys is retiring. Moving to named-login authentication gives each user a unique identity and provides a more secure, consistent way to manage access to On-Screen Takeoff. It also makes it easier for organizations to manage users and helps us deliver a more modern, reliable sign-in experience without changing the perpetual license you purchased.
What Happens to Your License
If you have active maintenance at the time of migration:
You'll move to a "legacy" perpetual license at no additional cost beyond your normal annual maintenance renewal (plus any usual annual price increases). Nothing extra to pay for the migration itself.
If you don't renew maintenance later:
You'll still be able to use your software, but access to Takeoff BOOST features will be disabled, including Auto Takeoff, Auto Count, Auto Name, Auto Link, project sharing, and transformation tools.
Once your company is migrated, authentication keys for your old version will be disabled.
Older versions using authentication keys won't be supported:
See sunset policy for more information
Your Maintenance Tier
Your maintenance tier determines which features are active. Tiers don't change with the sign-in update, only your login method does:
| Tier | What's included |
|---|---|
| Standard | Core desktop takeoff, reports, export, print. Auto Name (OCR). |
| Advanced | Everything in Standard, plus Auto Name (AI), Auto Scale, Auto Link, Auto Count, and Auto Takeoff (5 projects). |
| Premium | Everything in Advanced, plus unlimited Auto Takeoff and DPC (Document and Plan Collaboration). |
Quick Bid remains a separate product at every tier; it isn't bundled in.
Maintenance Agreements (Perpetual License Holders)
What is a maintenance agreement?
It's the annual agreement tied to a perpetual license that gives you access to updates, live support, and volume discounts. Your original license purchase included one year of maintenance (or a pro-rated term if added to an existing agreement).
How do I check if my maintenance is active?
Sign in to the ConstructConnect MyAccount Customer Portal and check your license keys; maintenance status is listed under the On-Screen Takeoff key. Note: only company administrators typically have access to this portal.
I canceled auto-renew. Can I still get back on maintenance?
-
If it hasn't expired yet: yes. Sign in to MyAccount, find your order, and reactivate it.
-
If it has already expired: no, you can't reinstate it or get the discounted subscription pricing available to active maintenance customers. You can still purchase a new subscription at prevailing prices.
What if my maintenance agreement has already expired?
You can purchase a new subscription. Talk to your Account Manager about which tier fits your team. See On-Screen Takeoff: Subscription License Guide for what a subscription includes; switching is a choice, not a requirement of this sign-in change.
Reseller Purchases
If you purchased through a reseller and have active maintenance, you'll continue to receive the same maintenance-based access to On-Screen Takeoff 4.0 and future versions through your preferred reseller. You can renew maintenance and add seats the same way.
What's Next for Quick Bid
Quick Bid is planned to follow On-Screen Takeoff's new sign-in process, probably toward the middle or end of September 2026.
