In the previous article, we showed you how to send a project via e-mail to another PlanSwift user.
Sometimes, you will need to send to someone who does not use PlanSwift (alas, we know it happens!). Sometimes sending a screenshot will work, but in the event that you need to send multiple or high-quality images, you will want to send the plans you have done a takeoff on as a PDF.
To send a PDF of your Plans and/or takeoffs, you use Windows built-in PDF “printer” or any 3rd party PDF Printer you have installed.
Send PDF of Plans and Takeoff via email
To send your plans and takeoff to a non-PlanSwift user,
- Click the Print button in PlanSwift
- Select the pages as 'Print Visible Items'
- Then go to Setup Printer to select your PDF printer or adjust page size and orientation
- For high-quality PDFs your selected page size should matche the Page Size in PlanSwift.
Microsoft’s built-in PDF Printer does not include Architectural sized output. You can search the web to find a PDF Printer that supports these large formats. One of our customers’ favorites is “CutePDF”; keep in mind, we provide no Technical Support for any 3rd party utility.
Once you print and save the file,
- Open up your email client and "Compose" a new email
- Locate your option to "Attach a File" and browse to the location where you saved the PDF you created
- Add your recipients, subject and body
- Click Send when ready
Many e-mail providers and clients limit the size of e-mails (including their attachments) to less than 10MB. Keep this in mind when sending PDFs via e-mail.
If you run into size issues, you can upload these PDFs to your preferred Cloud drive and share from there.
